Did you view the February 10th Special Commission on Combating Antisemitism meeting either in person or via livestream? What did you witness, feel and experience during the hearing?
Your state legislators are also following these proceedings to formulate their own decisions on the Commission’s final recommendations. They need to understand your key takeaways from the hearing.
Members of Together for an Inclusive Massachusetts (TIM) attend these Commission meetings in good faith after having urged transparency and calling for the Commission to open its doors to opinions not being represented by the appointed members. Four thoughtful and well-informed panelists representing TIM member organizations were finally given a chance to present and to directly answer questions from Commission members and to be judged by our own words. The panelists were instead cut off from answering questions and our words were misrepresented and those of us who believe in protecting both Jews AND Palestinians were publicly slandered at the hearing and afterwards. We appreciate all of you for taking prior actions by sharing your commitment to understanding antisemitism and how it is being addressed in our schools and communities. We also care about how the public is received in the hearing rooms of the State House. They want our respect, and we deserve theirs.
